Building a digital home for research, ideas and impact
The Ducor Institute for Social and Economic Research is an independent research organisation focused on social and economic issues affecting Liberia and the wider African continent.
The organisation needed a professional online presence that could clearly communicate who they are, showcase their work and provide a home for their growing collection of research and publications.
HG Marketing was brought in to turn that requirement into a website.
The challenge
For a research organisation, a website needs to do more than introduce the organisation.
It needs to make substantial amounts of information easy to navigate, give research and publications the space they deserve and establish credibility with academics, policymakers, partners and other stakeholders.
The Ducor Institute needed a website that could communicate its purpose clearly while providing a structure that would continue to work as more research and content were published.
It also needed to feel professional and authoritative without becoming difficult to navigate.
What we did
We approached the project by starting with the information rather than simply the design.
We worked with the Ducor Institute to understand its objectives, audiences and content before developing a website structure that made its work easier to explore.
From there, we designed and developed the website, creating a professional digital presence that reflected the organisation and provided dedicated space for its research, publications and wider activity.
Our work included:
- website planning and structure
- user journey and navigation
- website design
- website development
- structuring research and publication content
- responsive design for different devices
- creating a platform that could grow alongside the organisation
Throughout the project, the focus was on making complex and detailed information accessible without losing the credibility expected from a research institution.
The outcome
The Ducor Institute gained a professional digital home for the organisation and its work.
Rather than simply providing information about the Institute, the website gives its research and publications a central place to live and makes it easier for different audiences to understand the organisation, explore its work and engage with its ideas.
Just as importantly, the website was structured with the future in mind, giving the Institute a platform that can continue to develop as its body of research grows.
Need a website that has a job to do?
A good website isn't just about how it looks.
It needs to make sense to the people using it, communicate what your organisation does and make important information easy to find.
Whether you're starting from scratch or your current website is no longer doing its job, we can help you build something that works harder for your organisation.
